da spicy bet: Liverpool made sure the gap between them and Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table remained at just two points following their 3-0 win over Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
da lvbet: And it was a victory where summer signing Xherdan Shaqiri featured from the start in what has been a good start to life as a Liverpool player for the 27-year-old.
The Reds are now set to take on Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the campaign after their huge Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain, which £18m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Shaqiri is absolutely relishing.
The Breakdown
“It’s my first [Merseyside] derby so it’s going to be very special,” Shaqiri told the Liverpool Echo. “I want to see and to feel the atmospheres in these derbies. I’m looking forward to it.
“I know just one Evertonian. He said to me when I was at Stoke: ‘You have to come to Everton.’ I said: ‘No!’”
Liverpool supporters will certainly be pleased with the comments of their recent arrival, especially ahead of the Merseyside derby, but they can also be satisfied with what the former Stoke City man is currently offering on the pitch.
Despite being brought in to give manager Jurgen Klopp an alternative to the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in attack, Shaqiri has at times played alongside the duo including against Watford, and is thriving to say the least.
Largely through the way he carries the ball, Shaqiri has given the team an extra spark outside of Salah, Mane and Roberto Firmino, a spark that might make all the difference in what could be a very tight affair with an in-form and improving Everton side.
