da dobrowin: Roberto Mancini has praised Mario Balotelli after the Italy international came of the bench to score against Everton on Saturday, and has stated that the forward deserved to get a goal.
da realbet: The Etihad Stadium outfit started with Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero in attack, but despite having Carlos Tevez on the bench, Mancini preferred to use Balotelli as his first choice back-up.
‘Super Mario’ repaid his manager’s faith by getting the first goal in a 2-0 win, and Mancini has explained his decision to use him from the bench rather than Argentinean Tevez.
“Mario can play next Tuesday in Munich so it was for this reason and also because Mario trained very well in the last four to five weeks. He deserved to play,” the Italian told Sky Sports.
Everton stuck to their task of frustrating the big spending home side well, and Mancini knows that David Moyes’ men are difficult opponents.
“Everton is a good team. It was really difficult. It was hard to win this game. We had a lot of shots and we were unlucky in the first half. The second half we got better,” he concluded.
City are now equal on points with rivals United at the top of the Premier League, and now take on Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday.
