The Argentine superstar – as the most decorated player of all-time – took his haul of major honours to 46 when lifting the Supporters’ Shield. Inter Miami boast the best regular season record in MLS for 2024, meaning that they will head into the play-offs as No.1 seeds.

They still have two games left to take in before reaching the post-season – against Toronto and New England – and another entry in the history books is within reach. Back-to-back victories would take Tata Martino’s side to 74 points – one more than the Revolution managed back in 2021.
WHAT MESSI SAID
Messi has made a habit of shattering records down the years, but has told of silverware being his sole focus at present: “The points record is secondary, the main thing is what is coming up with the play-offs. First, we have a best-of-three series, but then it’s elimination games and anything can happen. We have a big advantage now, being able to play at home. We are very strong at home, but still have to prove we can win.”
