da roleta: The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce has backed Robbie Fowler to be the club’s next U23 manager following Neil Critchley’s departure this week, on the latest edition of The Red Agenda podcast (March 3).
What did he say?
da bet esporte: Well, host Steve Hothersall, Pearce and Simon Hughes were all discussing the exit of the 41-year-old to Blackpool, and brought up potential replacements.
Steve Hothersall said (44:05): “I’ll throw in Robbie Fowler. I know he definitely wants to be at home, and we have seen with all the other bosses they have gone onto first-team positions. And that’s what Robbie’s always wanted.”
He added: “He would probably work brilliantly in that academy setup. Hard-worker, understands what the club’s about and obviously would want to use it as a platform longer-term.”
When asked if he agreed, Pearce said: “I would definitely go along with that. You’re right, it’s sad in a way that he’s had to bide his time as long as he has done. He’s been desperate to cut his teeth in management and he’s had to go to the other side of the world to do that. He’s improved the Brisbane team he inherited.”

Would he be a good appointment?
He certainly would be, if he was willing to take the role.
Of course, the Liverpool icon has been the main man at Brisbane Roar, where he has won eight and drawn five of his 21 matches at the helm to date.

As Hothersall mentioned, the 44-year-old knows everything about the club and would surely look at how taking the role has benefitted the likes of Critchley and Steven Gerrard – who left for Rangers – previously, and that would have to be appealing.
The Reds could easily choose to promote from within, but if they do look outside of the club then surely Fowler would be a frontrunner if he wanted the job.
