da mrbet: Fulham are close to securing the signing of former Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole, according to the Daily Mirror.
da fezbet: Cattermole has been told he is surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light by Paolo Di Canio, with the Italian keen to oversee a massive summer rebuilding programme at the club.
The Italian coach sees the midfielder as something of a liability, due to his dreadful disciplinary record, which has seen him nicknamed ‘Clattermole’ among supporters.
The former England under-21 international is now holding talks with Fulham boss Martin Jol over a potential switch to West London, in a move that is set to only cost the Cottagers £2.5million.
Cattermole made the switch to the Stadium of Light in 2009 for £6million at a time when he was regarded as one of the country’s up-and-coming central midfielders.
His poor disciplinary record has played a massive part in stalling his progress however, despite the midfielder being handed the captains armband at the Stadium of Light.
Jol will be well aware of the risks that come with signing the former Wigan and Middlesbrough man, but is hopeful playing alongside experienced players such as Brede Hangeland and Dimitar Berbatov will bring the best out of the 25-year-old.
