da bet7: Scott Brown is set to be offered a new Celtic deal following links to Aberdeen in recent days.
da wazamba: That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim that the Hoops plan to put a fresh 12-month playing contract on the table for the 35-year-old.
Brown interested in Aberdeen role
The report claims Brown is interested in heading to Pittodrie to work alongside Stephen Glass as a player-coach, should his former Hibernian teammate get the vacant Dons job.
Brown doesn’t want to become a bit-part player at Parkhead, but it seems as if the Celtic hierarchy are keen for him to extend his Hoops stay, amid Glass’ interest in the club captain.
Transfer Tavern take
The no-nonsense midfielder has been in and out of the side in recent months under former boss Neil Lennon, so it’ll be interesting to see what Brown decides to do.
He went 10 Premiership games without a start in December and January, with Ismaila Soro making the holding midfield role his own. Callum McGregor leapt to the defence of his captain earlier this season, hailing him as an ‘excellent’ and ‘immense’ player who is an ‘incredible’ figure for others at the club to learn from (via Herald Scotland).
A player-coach offer could be too good to turn down at this point in Brown’s career, should he wish to take his first steps in coaching.
Brown is reportedly Celtic’s top earner on £25,000-a-week, so if the midfielder does decide to leave, the club could then use that money for some new additions. However, it seems as if they want him to stay.
