da premier bet: Rafa Benitez took the Newcastle United job in 2016 with the club in complete disarray. Despite his best efforts, the Spaniard was not able to stave off relegation for the Magpies and so the club and coach both dropped into the Championship.
da poker: The next season was much more positive as the club won the second tier league title to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. Once back in the big time, the North East outfit huffed and puffed and battled their way to a very respectable 10th placed finish.

At the start of this new season, however, Benitez’s side have struggled and the manager himself has come under fire. His side are currently joint-bottom at the foot of the table with only one point won from the first five matches.
What’s more, Benitez’s negative tactics, especially at home – where they recorded only 18% possession against Chelsea – have been criticised.
However, the fact that the Tyneside club have already had to play Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal can’t be dismissed. None of those are games that Newcastle would have expected to take points from.
Newcastle would be foolish in the extreme if they were to allow criticisms of Benitez’s style urge them into a hasty decision on the manager’s future. A new boss would likely bring more expansive football to St James’ Park and would also almost certainly see them relegated once again.
What do you think, Newcastle fans – is Benitez still the right man for the job or has the time come for the club to move on and be more positive and ambitious in their style of play?
